The Serbian has found some form in West London recently.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has impressed on loan at promotion chasing Fulham after arriving on transfer deadline day.

The striker, on loan from Newcastle United, has scored two in his last two outings and has already endeared himself to the Fulham fans.

The 23-year-old netted the Cottagers second goal against league leaders Wolves and also found the net against play-off rivals Bristol City, so he has proved to be the man for the big occasion already.

His form certainly begs the question as to why Rafael Benitez did not pick him and instead let him leave the club on loan. The lack of trust from Benitez saw Dwight Gayle and Joselu stay in front of Mitrovic in the pecking order, much to the frustration of the World Cup-bound Serbian.

When Mitrovic is confident and feels like he is loved then you get the best out of him, and that is proving to be the case at Fulham. With an arm round the shoulder, a confident Mitrovic is a better quality player than Joselu and also a more clinical finisher.

No matter who the player is, if they are scoring goals and winning games for the team then a managerswill have no choice but to pick him, so Mitrovic would certainly be ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order at St James’ Park.

Dwight Gayle scored twice against Bournemouth and now looks to be first choice, which has left Joselu out in the cold with his confidence levels diminishing.

The fans at Newcastle do love Mitrovic but they are not so keen on Joselu, which is why the former Anderlecht man’s departure was so hard to take for some supporters.

Nevertheless, he is helping Fulham in their quest for promotion and letting him leave could quite easily back fire on Newcastle.
