Christian Eriksen has suffered a dip in form since his glittering hat-trick for Denmark against Republic of Ireland earlier this month.

The midfielder hasn’t looked himself since the recent international break and appears to be a bit fatigued having featured in every league game so far this season.

Spurs haven’t won a Premier League game since the international break, which saw Eriksen play twice against the Irish, helping helping his country to a 5-1 in Dublin.

Dele Alli and Harry Kane have been playing alongside him for Tottenham and Alli is also enduring a similar slump form.

Mauricio Pochettino has tried to change things by bringing Son Heung-Min into the side but he hasn’t had many other options. That’s now changed as long term absentee Erik Lamela has returned from a 13 month injury lay-off and he immediately made an impact against Leicester in midweek.

He came off the bench and within minutes, set up Kane’s goal for Spurs. Eriksen is the man Tottenham looks to when it comes to creating chances but this season, the Dane only has two assists in the Premier League and he’s not set up a goal since August. The last time he scored himself was against AFC Bournemouth back in October so his impact on games has diminished slightly.

Lamela is fresh again and having made an impact in such a short space of time, Pochettino won’t be afraid to start the Argentine. The only question is will the manager drop both Alli and Eriksen. Both are playing poorly and look like they need some time out the team however dropping both of them could be counter productive.
