Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea are all battling to finish as best of the rest.

Manchester City are running away with the Premier League and, despite not playing this weekend, they still have a 13-point lead at the top.

The race for second, however, is beginning to look interesting. Six points separate the runners up spot and fifth place, which is currently occupied by Chelsea.

The Blues should not be ruled out, but they have lost three of their last four league games and something has not looked right between Antonio Conte and the club in 2018 as Chelsea have won just twice in the league this year.

Ultimately, it is Manchester United who are in the strongest position as they are the current occupiers of second place and have been for most of the season.

United claimed a morale-boosting victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford where they have lost just once in all competitions this season and their home form will be key to their chances.

The form book sides with Liverpool and Tottenham more though. United’s form has been indifferent while Spurs are unbeaten in ten and Liverpool have lost just one of their last 19 league games.

Spurs are in great form and they have favourable fixtures against Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth and Newcastle United so if they win those they could be a lot closer.

Liverpool’s current form can only be bettered by Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s side have proved they can compete with the very best, as they are the only team who can boast a victory over the league leaders.

A huge factor will surely be the game at Old Trafford on 10 March between United and Liverpool. The winner of that will open up a small gap and make it difficult for the losing side to come back.

Spurs will certainly be ready to pounce on any slip-ups, but the fact that Liverpool and United play each other means their destinies are in their own hands, whereas Spurs’ chance could rely on that result.

Given United’s home record, and the fact they currently occupy the second spot, they must surely be made slight favourites.
