David Moyes is willing to listen to offers for a number of his West Ham United strikers.
West Ham United striker Andy Carroll looks increasingly likely to leave the London Stadium this window, after Chelsea opened talks with the forward as reported in the Telegraph.
David Moyes is looking to sell one or two of his attackers as he tries to balance his squad for the rest of the season, and Carroll looks like he will be the first one out the door. The Daily Mirror report that the club are also willing to listen to offers for Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho, so there could yet be more striking departures from the Hammers.
That could potentially leave just Marko Arnautovic and Andre Ayew as West Ham’s senior strikers. It could however, leave the door open for youngster Toni Martinez, who made his debut against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.
There have been plenty of calls from West Ham fans to give the 20-year-old an opportunity and a run in the side, and Moyes finally acknowledged that, giving the Spaniard a 19-minute cameo at the New Meadow and then starting him in the replay.
Martinez, who scored three times during a loan spell with Oxford United last season, will surely climb the pecking order and get more chances should even just one striker leave this month.
The former Everton boss told the West Ham website that he wants to balance his squad, saying he is short in midfield and of right sided players, while being overloaded up front. With that in mind, it is unlikely that another striker will arrive at the London Stadium, which means we will probably see Martinez a lot more in the Premier League.
He is someone who certainly has the potential as he has proved at Oxford and in Checkatrade Trophy games.
