Three potential destinations for Javier Hernandez

The Mexican has not scored under David Moyes in what has been a frustrating season.

Javier Hernandez’s move to West Ham United has not gone as well as hoped. He arrived amid plenty of excitement and was seen as a real coup for the club. He started with four goals in his first 10 Premier League games, but has since gone nine matches without a goal in all competitions having failed to score under David Moyes.

He was very poor against Shrewsbury Town, a rare start for the 29-year-old under the Scot who told the West Ham website he needs to balance his ‘top heavy’ squad.

Hernandez, along with Andy Carroll could be one of the strikers to leave to help add that balance. Here are three potential destinations for the forward.

Los Angeles FC

New MLS franchise Los Angeles FC are keen to bring Hernandez to the United States according to the London Evening Standard. The club are managed by former Swansea City boss Bob Bradley and also have Mexican teammate Carlos Vela on their roster, which could persuade him to go there.

The MLS is a good place to rediscover form, as Jermain Defoe showed in 2014, and ‘Chicharito’ will want to ensure he is in good form ahead of the World Cup.

Besiktas JK

Besiktas are on the look-out for a striker after selling Cenk Tosun to Everton and TalkSport claim they have began talks with West Ham over Hernandez.

The former Bayer Leverkusen forward would be able to play in the Champions League should he move to the Turkish Champions and is likely to become their first-choice striker.

Manchester United

It would certainly be the shock of the transfer window, but a move back to Old Trafford for Hernandez should not be ruled out. The Telegraph say United made preliminary enquiries about taking the Mexican back.

A move for Hernandez, who was loved by United fans, appears to be unlikely as Alexis Sanchez’s move edges closer. However a further injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic has meant a back-up number nine may be needed and Hernandez played that role perfectly in his first spell.

Jose Mourinho is also a fan. He was quoted in the 2017, as reported by the Mirror, saying that had Chicharito been at Manchester United last season, he would have scored 20 goals and admitted he would not have sold him.
