David Moyes has turned things around fairly quickly at the London Stadium.
West Ham United climbed to 15th in the Premier League after their credible 1-1 draw with rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
The Hammers have now lost just one of their last seven matches in the league, as manager David Moyes continues to guide them away from danger.
The Scot took charge back in November and, when he lost his first game to Watford, West Ham slipped into the bottom three and were 19th after they narrowly lost to Manchester City at the start of December.
That positive performance in defeat to the league leaders was the turning point for Moyes, who has picked up a total of 13 points from his first 11 games in charge. Slaven Bilic only managed nine points from West Ham’s opening 11 games and Moyes’ side have conceded six fewer goals than Bilic’s team did.
In short, the former Everton and Manchester United manager has added consistency to the Hammers who now look a lot more solid.
The 54-year-old signed a six-month contract, taking him to the end of the season. If the form book is anything to go by, it looks like he will keep West Ham up, although they are still just two points clear of danger.
Their next two matches are pretty favourable. They face Huddersfield Town away and then AFC Bournemouth at home, so they could be even further ahead if they pick up points at a similar ratio to what they have been under Moyes.
Losing a manager who has turned around the club’s fortunes and stabilised the team would be disastrous and, although West Ham are not out of the woods yet, the positive signs all point towards a solid second half to the season and a one-year extension for Moyes surely would not be criticised.
