Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez wants to bring Danny Ings to St James’ Park as early in January as he can according to the Newcastle Chronicle.
The Magpies boss, however, is still unclear as to what his budget will be – takeover or no takeover, which will inevitably delay Newcastle making an approach.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is seeking £300m for the club while proposed new owner Amanda Staveley offered £250m, but the club’s current position in the table and the threat of relegation may complicate any deal.
That could benefit West Ham United who also want to sign Ings as reported in the Sun. West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to bolster his attacking options with his strikers misfiring so far this season.
