The Scottish full-back has started to make the left-back spot his own at Anfield.
All the attention at Liverpool is on Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, and rightly so given their goal-scoring exploits.
However they are not the only players who are standing out at Anfield at the moment. Left-back Andrew Robertson has been performing brilliantly for Liverpool in recent weeks and looks to have finally settled in after his move from Hull City in the summer.
He has played in 14 of the Reds’ last 17 games and has shown a level of consistency that appears to have finally solved Jurgen Klopp’s problems at left-back.
The Scottish international has been solid defensively and is good going forward, with his crossing ability being one of his outstanding traits.
Robertson joined the club in July for what the BBC reported as an £8million fee which could rise to £10million. When you put that into perspective of the way transfer fees are going, it is a mere drop in the ocean for most clubs these days.
Robertson is still only 23 and has plenty of time to develop and improve at Liverpool. He struggled initially, which is natural for younger players, but he is now one of their most consistent defenders and has grown into a real fan favourite already.
It must also be mentioned that Manchester City spent around £130million on full-backs while Chelsea paid £23million plus add-ons (according to Sky Sports) for Davide Zappacosta and, when you compare those players’ season to Robertson’s, there is not much difference with the exception of Kyle Walker, which puts Robertson among the bargain transfers of the season.
