The South Korean has been a crucial player for Tottenham Hotspur in the last two seasons.
Heung-Min Son scored his tenth goal of the season against West Ham United to rescue a point for Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Thursday evening.
The South Korean has now netted six times in his last nine outings for Spurs and is starting to make the £22million fee paid by Spurs in 2015 look like money well spent.
He has now scored 39 goals for Tottenham, and only Harry Kane and Dele Alli have scored more than him since he arrived in August 2015.
Kane, Alli and Eriksen are the players who get most the plaudits in the Tottenham team, yet Son has often dug Mauricio Pochettino’s side out of a hole with crucial goals at vital times.
The 25-year-old was unlucky to miss out on a place in last season’s Team of the Year. Sadio Mane was the man who was favoured in his position despite Son scoring and assisting more times than the Liverpool star.
Son’s overall Spurs record of 39 goals and 22 assists is outstanding for a player who more often than not plays out wide and, particularly in his first season, found himself coming on from the bench more than he started games.
He has tremendous work rate, but the talent is clearly there as most of his goals are stunners from outside the box. There is actually not a lot wrong with Son’s game at the moment, which justifies the feeling that he is still not getting the plaudits he deserves.
