Has Ben Marshall been harshly treated at Wolves?

The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger has fallen down the Molineux pecking order this term.

Ben Marshall has been out in the cold at Wolves so far this season and could be on his way out of Molineux according to the Daily Express.

The 26-year-old has not featured for Wolves since November 3 and has only made six league appearances, starting just one of those games.

The midfielder joined the club just under a year ago when Paul Lambert was in charge and played a key role under the Scot and was a firm favourite amongst the fans.

Since Nuno took over, the former Leicester City man has often been left out of the match-day squad. He is a player who has not done a lot wrong so it does look like he has been treated harshly.

The Portuguese boss has plenty of attacking talent at his disposal. Diogo Jota has been a revelation since joining from Atletico Madrid while Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa are both ahead of the Englishman.

Wolves have spent big since Fosun International took over the club in 2016, and their links with agent Jorge Mendes has seen a whole host of Portuguese players arrive at the club, which appears to have left some of the English players out in the cold.

The Black Country club have a clear identity now and are 12 points clear at the top of the league so, in Nuno’s defence, he has no reason to change a winning team, but it is unfortunate for Marshall who has not really put a foot wrong.

It is more of a case of not fitting into the new system and which has seen Marshall fall down the pecking order rather than anything malicious, yet he is a player who deserves a lot more game time in the Championship so a move away looks on the cards.
