Steve Bruce is looking to bring an attacker to Villa Park.

Wigan Athletic signed James Vaughan from Sunderland last week, which has fuelled speculation about Latics forward Nick Powell.
According to The Sun Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has already made an enquiry for Powell. Bruce so far has had no luck, with the player seemingly keen to remain at the DW Stadium.

However the arrival of Vaughan may have an impact. Powell has been a regular for Wigan and has scored 11 goals in League One so far this season.
Vaughan scored 24 goals for Bury in League One last term and, if he replicates that kind of form early in his Latics career, then manager Paul Cook may start him alongside Will Grigg, who also has 11 goals (all competitions) this term.

With that in mind, should another bid from Villa come in and there is perhaps more money or a promise to the player regarding game time, then he will certainly have a decision to make.
Powell and Bruce briefly worked together at Hull City during the 2015-16 campaign, so they know each other fairly well.
Villa are a huge club, particularly in the Championship, so regardless of Vaughan’s presence Powell’s head is likely to have been turned slightly anyway. However Villa will now feel if they push harder, this deal could well come off.
