Liverpool fans think that Stefano Pioli is tempting fate by calling their side “not unbeatable or impenetrable in defence”.

The AC Milan boss made the bullish comments whilst speaking to DAZN following his side’s 2-0 win over Salernitana on Saturday.

“We know Liverpool will inevitably cause us some issues, but the spaces can open up too, because they are certainly not unbeatable or impenetrable in defence” said Pioli.

Liverpool fans are used to seeing opposing managers and players make bold pre-match claims about their side.

Often it has been the pre-cursor to a slap-down from Jurgen Klopp’s team and these Liverpool fans are expecting no different on Tuesday.

Others felt that Pioli would be wise not to put fire in the belly of the in-form Divock Origi.

The Belgian striker added another legendary goal to his remarkable collection on Saturday.

And it wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone of a red persuasion to see him score at one of the most iconic stadiums in world football.

The atmosphere at San Siro is sure to be fervent, with Milan needing a win to have any chance of qualification.

Key men for Liverpool are likely to be given the night off. But squad players like Ibrahima Konate and Takumi Minamino will be desperate to make an impact.

As for Pioli’s comments on their defence, Liverpool are in fact top of the Premier League clean sheets table this season. With Joe Gomez now back in team training, Klopp has options to choose from if he decides to rest usual starters Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip.
