Colin Dagba is now eying a late transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after Mauricio Pochettino snubbed the reported Arsenal target whilst Achraf Hakimi is at the Africa Cup of Nations.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who note Dagba is now considering his Parc des Princes future after Pochettino overlooked him. Hakimi is currently away from the Ligue 1 side with Morocco in Cameroon, but Thilo Kehrer has plugged Les Parisiens’ right-back gap instead.
Dagba now accepts it will be hard for him to gain regular minutes if he remains in Paris past Monday. The 23-year-old has played five times across all competitions and has opened two of his three league outings this season. He featured 33 times, starting 22, in total last term.
Saint-Etienne have already explored a deal to prise Dagba from Pochettino’s fringes during the January window. But the former France U21 star rejected Sainte’s interest, with Pascal Dupraz’s side bottom of Ligue 1. They have won just two and drawn six of their 21 fixtures.
Mallorca and Venezia are now prepared to offer Dagba potential moves to Spain and Italy respectively. The former Boulogne prospect, represented by super-agent Pini Zahavi, is also ready to listen to offers before next Monday’s deadline. His PSG contract expires in 2024.
Arsenal could offer Dagba chance he wants away from Paris Saint-Germain
Dagba’s increasing willingness to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the final week of the transfer window will likely catch Arsenal’s interest. Foot Mercato reported earlier this month that the Gunners, plus Real Betis, Borussia Monchengladbach and Dortmund were keen.
At the time, Dagba was likely to stay in Pochettino’s squad, until at least the summer. Yet his decision to pick Kehrer as Hakimi’s stand-in replacement has sparked a change of thought. Now, the full-back will look to join an interesting project during the next week of the window.
Mikel Arteta could offer Dagba the chance he seeks in a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Arsenal. The Spaniard has rarely backed Cedric Soares since signing Takehiro Tomiyasu last summer, and will want to have adequate support amid the Japan star’s injury issues.
