Gary Neville has praise for Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has suggested to Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur need to hand head coach Mauricio Pochettino a new contract.
Pochettino was appointed the Tottenham head coach in the summer of 2014 and has a contract with the North London outfit until June 2021, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Former United defender Neville believes that Spurs need to tie down the Argentine boss to a new deal.
The former England international has also praised the Tottenham players, highlighting that they are well coached.
“They look well coached,” Neville told Sky Sports. “You look at those players and you think you’d like to have those players. They’re young, hungry, energetic, they’ll do what you want, there’s not egos in there.
“I think that Pochettino seems to assemble those types of teams where they are. I think he’s done a great job, he’s one of my favourite coaches.
“The little dip they had earlier in the season is normal if you’ve got a young team going into the Champions League for the first time.
“I’ve liked what they’ve done in the past few years, it looks controlled there, and they need to give that manager a long-term contract and pin him down.”
Pochettino has done a remarkable job at Tottenham so far and should be given huge credit for the way the team are performing at the moment.
Spurs have established themselves as genuine contenders for the Premier League title over the past two seasons.
However, given that the Argentine already has a contract until 2021, one should question whether he needs a new deal.
Perhaps an improved contract with a better salary? Maybe, but then again, Pochettino was appointed the Spurs head coach to do precisely what he is doing now.
