Speculation is mounting that Newcastle United are interested in signing a certain Ismaila Sarr.
According to Calciomercato in Italy, Newcastle are keen on the Watford winger, who’s attracting most interest from AC Milan at the moment.
But if Saudi Public Investment Fund do sign him for Eddie Howe this summer, the Magpies could be genuinely frightening in attack next season.
United already have one jet-heeled wide player in the form of Allan Saint-Maximin, who has taken the Premier League by storm.
And once the surrounding players are of a higher standard, the French winger will, in theory, become even better for Newcastle.
Opposition full-backs do not like coming up against the former Nice trickster.
Now just imagine two of Saint-Maximins!
Like Saint-Maximin, Sarr is a problematic winger with speed to burn and him, combined with the Newcastle attacker, would make Howe’s outfit a proper threat going forward next season.
‘Very, very fast’
The Hornets splurged £40 million on signing Sarr from Rennes [Sky Sports] during the summer of 2019, with Sadio Mane of Liverpool saying to The Athletic that his international teammate is a ‘good dribbler and very, very fast.’
And when you put him in a better team he could – again, in theory – get a hell of a lot better.
Ten goals in 45 Premier League appearances is a pretty good return at a club like Watford and you can expect much more end product if he were to join Newcastle, who will surely embark on another spending spree this summer.
If Sarr is part of that spending spree then, well, there’s genuine reason to be excited if you’re a Newcastle fan.
