Piers Morgan came to the defence of his friend and Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who came under fire from Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Recently, Agbonlahor called out Ronaldo for not putting Portugal’s interests before his during the FIFA World Cup.

Unsurprisingly, Piers Morgan has taken aim at the former Aston Villa and England star for coming after, in his opinion, the greatest player of all time.

Piers Morgan says Gabriel Agbonlahor could ‘never’ reach the heights Cristiano Ronaldo did

Taking to X to respond to a clip of Gabriel Agbonlahor’s criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo, Piers Morgan did not hold back at all.

He suggested that Agbonlahor has never come close to Ronaldo, and said that the Portuguese star has more records than the former England international could ever imagine.

“You’ve never, and I mean NEVER, kicked a ball like Ronaldo, Gabriel Agbonlahor, which is why he holds more football records than you can do press-ups.”

Morgan has long-been a defender of Cristiano Ronaldo’s, especially after the reporter interviewed him during Ronaldo’s final days as a Manchester United player.

Since then, Morgan has served as somewhat of an unofficial press partner of Ronaldo, as he conducts almost all of his high-profile interviews.

Gabriel Agbonlahor slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for not running enough against Spain

One of the biggest criticisms that came from Agbonlahor during his appearance on talkSPORT was that the five-time Champions League winner did not run enough for the team.

“Ronaldo at times, he was walking football last night. I played that position; you have to be running the channels, you have to be creating space for the players.”

At 41 years of age, Ronaldo is undoubtedly a diminished version of himself and has to play a more conservative brand of football.

However, there are some questions to be asked of the other Portuguese players as to why they didn’t create more chances for the prolific goalscorers.
