The outspoken Arsenal fan has had his say again- is he right or wrong?
Gary Cahill did do one thing which made Arsenal fans smile on Saturday.
His last ditch clearance from Emmanuel Adebayor’s goal bound effort denied Tottenham Hotspur three points, and kept Chelsea within five points of fourth place.
Arsenal of course were linked with the former Bolton Wanderers man in August.
Bolton wanted in excess of £15 million, and when Arsene Wenger reportedly tested the waters with an £7 million enquiry, chairman Phil Gartside spoke angrily of being ‘insulted.’
Wenger never went back, electing to sign German international Per Mertesacker.
Cahill went onto have a dismal start to the season, but was signed in January by Chelsea for, you guessed it £7 million, with Bolton panicking over losing him on a free in the summer.
The man football supporters of all clubs, including Arsenal, love to hate, Piers Morgan, has been having his say on Cahill.
Clearly impressed by his clearance against Chelsea, his knee-jerk reaction was to jump to a conclusion on Twitter.
He said: “Cahill’s been superb today, Arsenal should have signed him.”
Is he right, or do Arsenal have plenty of defensive cover? With Koscielny and Vermaelen, it is hard to see where he would fit in, especially when you add Mertesacker and Djourou to the equation.
Cahill will get more opportunities at Stamford Bridge, so it was probably the right move all round.
Do you agree with us or Piers? Should Arsenal have signed Cahill?
