The Gunners won their group but will still face Bayern Munich yet again.

The draw that all Arsenal fans were dreading came to pass this morning as they were paired with Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League, yet again.

Usually Arsenal have themselves to blame for having to face Germany’s best team. The Gunners have been slipping up in the group stages recently – meaning they end up finishing second and therefore going up against group winners.

Bayern however finished second in their group this season, to Spanish side Atletico Madrid, leaving Arsenal open to a potential fixture with the Bundesliga side yet again.

Of course, fate has transpired that Arsenal will again face Bayern Munich.

It was a draw that certainly left Arsenal fans devastated, but put a chuckle in former Spurs striker and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.

He posted this reactive Tweet to the draw:

Meanwhile famous Arsenal fan Piers Morgan seemed to point the finger at Arsene Wenger in an odd tweet, with Lineker posting an appropriate response:

Arsenal fans will of course be disappointed to see they face the tough task of overcoming Bayern yet again – but must take heart from the fact that Bayern are not looking like the team of old.

Hopefully the Gunners can end their Bayern hex this season.
