Pierre van Hooijdonk is the latest former Celtic player to congratulate the club on their success at the Best FIFA Football Awards.

The Bhoys fanbase was named the best in the world at Monday night’s ceremony in London, for the way in which they honoured the club’s 1967 ‘Lisbon Lions’ with a 360-degree card display on the 50th anniversary of that European Cup win.

And for Van Hooijdonk, who scored 56 goals in 92 games for Celtic between 1995 and 1997, the accolade came as no surprise.

The Dutchman wrote on Twitter:

Van Hooijdonk’s former Celtic teammate, Simon Donnelly, had earlier posted on social media website: “As a player, doesn’t matter how many times you’ve played there, you get goosebumps walking out to that crowd every time”.

Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane were crowned best male player and coach respectively, with Dutch duo Lieke Martens and Serea Wiegman claiming the women’s accolades.
