Pierre-Michel Lasogga is facing a huge year in Germany at Hamburg.
The former Leeds United loanee was not brought back to Elland Road and is now featuring in the German second division.
He is under big pressure as the highest paid player in the Bundesliga 2, and last night he started to show why.
Lasogga scored two goals and set up another as Hamburg beat Arminia Bielefield 3-0.
This was Lasogga’s third game of the season, and the first time he has found the scoresheet for months.
Lasogga’s final goal for Leeds came in a 2-1 win against Derby on February 21, capping a run of five goals in six games.
The German striker then went 10 games without scoring a goal, making up Leeds’ minds not to sign him.
The Whites are not suffering for that decision, and Hamburg could not find anyone willing to take on Lasogga’s wages in the summer.
Now it seems he has a big part to play in their efforts to win promotion and get his career back on track.
