Pierre-Michel Lasogga has made himself available for Leeds United’s next Championship game, despite the imminent arrival of his baby.
Following the end of the international break, Leeds fans hoping that they would get a first glimpse of deadline day signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga may have feared that the imminent arrival of his baby would end any hope of him featuring in their first game back.
The Yorkshire Evening Post recently reported that Lasogga’s baby is due on Sunday, so he would certainly be forgiven for not making himself available for the clash with Burton Albion at Elland Road the day before – especially as his partner will be in Germany rather than with him in England.
However, Lasogga has also suggested to the Yorkshire Evening Post that he plans to make himself available for the clash against the Brewers in a move that is undoubtedly likely to endear him to supporters.
But what should make Lasogga’s plans all the more endearing to the fans is that it comes just weeks after former star striker Chris Wood departed for Burnley.
Although Wood’s form last season meant that the New Zealander had undoubtedly earned another chance to play in the Premier League, the circumstances surrounding his departure severely damaged his relationship with the supporters.
Wood took to Twitter shortly before the Whites’ game with Sunderland last month to issue a statement where he confirmed that he was ruling himself out of the fixture due to the interest from the Clarets.
Wood’s decision to rule himself out seemed to leave many Leeds supporters urging him to go despite his previous importance to the team.
So having Lasogga now suggest that he is ready to play despite an imminent event as important as the arrival of his child in the same weekend will surely delight Leeds fans even more given that the frustration over the circumstances surrounding Wood’s departure is still fresh in their minds.
