Pierre-Michel Lasogga has commented on his future at Leeds United.

Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has told Sportbuzzer in his native Germany that he wants to fire the club back to the Premier League – but isn’t worried about his future just yet.

The Whites needed a new signing after selling star striker and last season’s top goalscorer Chris Wood to Burnley, and they pounced to land something of a coup in Hamburg striker Lasogga.

Lasogga, 26, had a patchy spell with Hamburg, hitting 15 goals in his first season but then managing just 15 in his final three seasons combined, eventually falling out of favour with the Bundesliga side.

The burly striker ended up penning a loan deal with Leeds for the season, and he has again been somewhat patchy, scoring seven times in 18 games but struggling sometimes with his lack of mobility.

Lasogga has failed to find the net in nine of his 10 games for Leeds in all competitions, and whilst the Whites did bring in West Bromwich Albion’s Tyler Roberts last month, Lasogga is still expected to lead the line for Leeds between now and the end of the season.

Lasogga now has a new manager to prove himself to in Paul Heckingbottom following Thomas Christiansen’s exit, and with Leeds seven points off the play-offs, he needs to be in top form to help his side get back into the top six.

Now, Lasogga has told Sportbuzzer in his native Germany that he really wants to finish this season inside the play-off places, as he wants to give Leeds a shot at returning to the Premier League, where Lasogga believes they belong.

Lasogga added that he isn’t worried about his future just yet, and as he has one more year on his Hamburg contract, he hopes his parent club manage to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga this season.

“I want to make it into the play-offs with Leeds – this club belongs in the Premier League,” said Lasogga. “I’m not worried about that yet. Finally, I have one more year contract in Hamburg and I wish HSV to stay in the Bundesliga,” he added.
