Arsenal claimed a creditable 1-1 draw in Munich, and can hold their heads high despite elimination.

This is one of 10 impressive photos we have picked out from Arsenal’s draw at the Allianz Arena, as they came away from the daunting stadium without defeat for the second year in a row.
Considering Bayern’s recent form, they had won their last two home games 5-1 and 4-0, their defensive effort is to be admired.
Wenger had a real warning for Pep Guardiola’s side though, hinting Jupp Heynckes’ side of a year ago were more accomplished: “Good luck to Bayern, they are a good side but I think they are this season more vulnerable than last year.”
This was despite failing to win either tie this year, but clearly Wenger feels the way they were torn apart at the Emirates last season was far different to the game this time, where Arsenal looked Bayern’s equal until being reduced to 10 men, a decision which still haunts the Frenchman.
“Overall over the two games I feel that what made the difference is the decision to send our goalkeeper off in the first game. We played a 1-1 tonight and that decision had a huge impact. It was on the same player who got a penalty again tonight and that’s the regret we have.”
Arsenal and their fans will only be able to wonder what may have been, and wait until next year to see if they fare better in the competition, and hopefully receive or earn a kinder knockout draw.
