The picture that will leave some West Ham United fans scratching their heads as supporters of bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur stand throughout Wembley tie.
Match stewards attempt to make West Ham United fans sit down amid fighting
A terrible start to the season, infighting amongst fans, resentment towards owners and concerns over safety have soured West Ham United‘s season so far.
Slaven Bilic‘s side have lost three of their opening four Premier League matches and scraped past Bournemouth in their solitary victory.
The Hammers were also embarrassingly dumped out of the Europa League by Romanian minnows Astra Giurgiu for the second season running.
Fans are at each other’s throats over standing at their new 60,000 seater Olympic Stadium home while Karren Brady – who spearheaded the club’s move to Stratford – was allegedly spat at by her own supporters as things turned sour in a 4-2 home defeat to Watford last time out.
Arrests have been made and lifetime bans dished out to some fans as ugly scenes marred all four games at the stadium so far – three of them defeats.
Tottenham fans outside the stadium before the game
The Hammers’ bitter rivals Spurs meanwhile were in Champions League action at Wembley, their temporary home for European games.
And there was no sign of a toxic atmosphere when Spurs descended on the national stadium, despite a 2-1 defeat to Monaco on Wednesday night.
After the game a professional photographer for a national newspaper, who also happens to be a Hammer, took to Twitter with two pictures from the match showing Tottenham supporters standing throughout.

Richard Pelham, a photographer for The Sun, said on Twitter: “Come on you Irons. Spurs fans allowed to stand at Wembley.
“Just putting it out there. And the second half over (the) other end.”
Dejected West Ham United stars
Here’s how some supporters reacted to the pictures on Twitter including former Spurs player Graham Roberts, who couldn’t resist a dig at the East Londoners.
