Photos: Tottenham give promising update on new stadium progress

Tottenham Hotspur have shared pictures showing the progress made to the Northumberland Development Project.

Tottenham Hotspur’s official twitter account has shared a number of photographs of the building development on their new stadium. Work began on the new stadium earlier this year, and it’s progress appears to be rapid, with the new ground already beginning to take shape.

The building of the luxurious new 61,000 seater stadium is known as the Northumberland Development Project, and Spurs are hoping to move into their new arena for the start of the 2018/19 season, with White Hart Lane having already been partly demolished.

The monumental new stadium, which will be slightly bigger than that of North London rivals Arsenal’s, will include a retractable pitch, allowing Spurs to host NFL games. As well as the stadium, the Northumberland Development Project also includes houses, a hotel, shops and much more.

The tweet from Tottenham’s official account [pictured above] shows remarkable progress in a very short amount of time, and already gives some indication of how the stadium will look once it is fully built.

Spurs followed that initial photograph up by sharing a GIF with supporters featuring a variety of images taken from the build process. The pictures will make for good viewing for a lot of Tottenham supporters, as the club embark on an exciting era both on and off the pitch.

It’s been a good week for Tottenham fans already, with their team winning in Moscow last night, a match which they really needed to take maximum points from having lost their opening Champions League game to Monaco. Spurs are currently playing their home league games at White Hart Lane and their home Champions League games at Wembley Stadium. The rest of the images Tottenham shared via Twitter are below:
