GK: Al Habsi – Made a series of excellent saves to keep Southampton at bay. Fully deserving of his clean sheet.

RB: Rangel – Was a constant attacking threat, overlapping constantly and looked solid defensively. Goal added to the argument for his inclusion.
Unlucky to miss out: Rafael
CB: Distin – Tasked with keeping Villa’s dangerman Bent quiet and barely gave the striker a sniff. Composed and not at fault for Villa consolation.
Unlucky to miss out: Alcaraz
CB: L.Barnett – Helped to keep Norwich’s defence sturdy and solid against QPR. Could not be blamed at all for Rangers equaliser.

Unlucky to miss out: Kagawa
CM: Hazard – Narrowly missed out last week, but thoroughly deserves his squad place. Assist and a goal topped off a highly influential display.
Unlucky to miss out: Pienaar
CM: Allen – Has added a calming presence to the Liverpool midfield and kept the ball moving superbly. All the play went through the Welshman.

Unlucky to miss out: Torres
WG: Sterling – The youngster was given the surprise nod and repaid the faith with an exciting performance. Cross early on showed supreme ability.
