Leeds United have reportedly decided upon signing Derby County’s Matej Vydra.

Leeds have been linked with both Vydra and Hernandez throughout the summer so far, but the Mirror claim that Bielsa has encouraged them to move for the Derby County frontman.
And, out of the pair, Vydra does indeed look like the safer bet to sign.

Of course, Hernandez could also have been a good addition to Leeds’ squad, but there was no guarantee he would stay fit.
The Uruguayan has struggled with injury throughout his career, and with Leeds needing a guaranteed goalscorer, investing big wages in him would have been a risk.
If Hernandez had been ruled out with injury, Leeds could have been left short – but Vydra looks a far safer buy.

The Czech international is similarly proven in front of goal at Championship level, but he comes with far fewer doubts over his fitness.
Vydra is also younger than Hernandez and, therefore, has a greater re-sale value, if things don’t work out at Elland Road.
And Bielsa looks to have made a smart choice out of the pair, as Vydra just looks far less risky an addition for Leeds to make.
