Everton winger Andros Townsend has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:40pm, October 15, 2022) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane deservedly won the penalty against his side at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham beat Everton 2-0 in North London in the Premier League this evening.
England international striker Kane put Spurs in the lead from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.
Then on 86 minutes, midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
It was Kane himself who earned the penalty.
Everton and England international goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was adjudged to have tripped the Tottenham star.
And Everton winger and former Tottenham star Townsend believes that it was the right decision.

Townsend said: “I would love to sit here and blame the ref, VAR, but unfortunately, Jordan Pickford’s reaction gives it away.”
Verdict
In our view, the referee was right to give Tottenham Hotspur the penalty against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening.
Pickford clearly brought down Kane.
Yes, from one camera angle, it did look like Kane ran into the Everton goalkeeper, but if you look at a number of other angles, then you will notice that Pickford did bring down the English striker.
