LASK Linz physio Ivan Porobija has remained coy on talk of Ivan Perisic leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Hajduk Split in January.

Ivan Perisic is just focused on getting back to full fitness rather than a potential January move away from Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to LASK Linz physio Ivan Porobija, who has been speaking to Sportske Novosti in Croatia.

Perisic had been enjoying a decent start to the season, turning in some impressive cameo performances off the bench for Spurs.

However, disaster struck last week as Perisic suffered a significant knee injury in training and he has undergone surgery.

We won’t be seeing Perisic in action until 2024 – and there have been questions over which club he will be playing for upon his return…

Ivan Perisic linked with Hajduk Split return

Tportal in Croatia suggested earlier this month that Perisic would be heading back to Croatia with Hajduk Split in January.

Perisic started out in the Hajduk ranks and grew up supporting the club having been born in Omis, just about 45 minutes outside of Split.

Tottenham have signed Hajduk wonderkid Luka Vuskovic ahead of his 2025 arrival and it was suggested that Perisic could go the other way.

The injury may be an issue but Sportske Novosti claimed earlier this week that Perisic has agreed to join Hajduk and the injury won’t stop the deal.

It’s claimed that Tottenham will let Perisic go for nothing and that an emotional return to Split is all agreed for the January window.

Physio comments on Perisic leaving Tottenham

Hajduk are chasing a league title this year, so rumours of Perisic’s return are going into complete overdrive.

We’re now at the point where physio Ivan Porobija is being asked about the situation.

Porobija works as a physio for LASK Linz and has even been involved with the Ukrainian national team.

You may wonder why Porobija is being asked about Perisic’s future, but Sportske Novosti highlight that they are friends from Omis.

Porobija has been photographed next to Perisic’s hospital bed after his operation, so the pair appear to be close.

Sportske Novosti have asked Porobija about Perisic and unsurprisingly asked whether he mentioned anything about returning to Hajduk.

Porobija played it with a fairly straight bat, refusing to contribute to the ever-growing hype about a potential transfer.

Whilst the pair talked alone for a while, the subject of a move to Hajduk allegedly didn’t even come up in something of a blow to fans who were hoping for a sneaky piece of inside information.

Porobija noted that Perisic is just focused on his recovery, but did leave the door open for his recovery to take place away from London if Tottenham deem it suitable ahead of a possible January exit.

“We were alone, we talked for a while. Hajduk? We didn’t discuss any topics of the future, because Ivan is exclusively focused on recovery,” said Porobija. “Where that recovery will take place, Perišić will decide in cooperation with Tottenham, but the most important thing is that the doctors predict a successful recovery. This is the news that pleases everyone the most,” he added.
