West Ham United lost 4-1 away at Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham United couldn’t spring a surprise on Saturday afternoon as they were thrashed 4-1 away at Liverpool, making it two away league defeats in a row for David Moyes’ side.
The Hammers had lost 3-1 at Brighton and Hove Albion in their last away league game, but their 2-0 home win over Watford a fortnight ago had given fans hope of a positive result at Anfield.
However, Mohamed Salah hitting the post early on was a warning sign for the Hammers, and Salah crossed in for Emre Can to head Liverpool into a first half lead, before Salah grabbed the second after half time with a smart finish.
Roberto Firmino rounded Adrian and tapped home from Can’s pass, and whilst Michail Antonio pulled one back from Cheikhou Kouyate’s finish, Sadio Mane did tap home from Andrew Robertson’s cross to hand Liverpool a 4-1 win.
That leaves West Ham just three points clear of the relegation zone, and Moyes will be hoping to pick up points on the road at Swansea City next weekend.
For now though, West Ham fans are growing increasingly frustrated, and supporters unveiled a new banner at Anfield on Saturday afternoon to sum up their anger at the current regime at the London Stadium.
Fans held aloft a banner stating that co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan, as well as vice-chairman Karren Brady, have done more damage to East London than Adolf Hitler, urging those in charge to leave their roles.
