Tottenham Hotspur beat Bournemouth 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen scores their fourth goal
Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon not only helped them close the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea, but also saw Vincent Janssen score his first Premier League goal from open play.
Spurs swatted Bournemouth aside in convincing fashion, with Mousa Dembele and Son Heung-min setting Tottenham on their way to a second consecutive 4-0 victory.
Harry Kane added a third, and then Vincent Janssen capped off a superb win by scoring his first Premier League goal from open play, turning home at the second attempt after Artur Boruc had saved his first effort from close range.
The Dutch striker has endured a difficult first year in English football, as having hit 31 goals in 49 games for AZ Alkmaar last season, Janssen arrived with the expectation of providing another goalscorer behind Harry Kane.
However, the 22-year-old has found the net just six times this season, with the first four being penalties, and his first goal from open play coming in the FA Cup against Millwall last month.
On Saturday, Janssen finally scored his first Premier League goal from open play, and the images below show the Dutchman’s joy – and relief – at finally breaking that particular duck.
Janssen celebrated scoring Tottenham’s fourth goal, and was then grabbed by winger Son Heung-min, who also couldn’t hide his delight at Janssen grabbing the goal he has been waiting for.
With Spurs now just four points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino will hope that Saturday’s goal can spur Janssen on to fire Tottenham towards the Premier League title.
