The Tottenham Hotspur man can’t catch a break at the moment.

It seems to go from bad to worse for Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen.

The 22-year-old, an £18.5 million signing in the summer, could have been forgiven for looking forward to the two-week international break.

The former AZ Alkmaar hitman has struggled in a big way since his switch to Tottenham, failing to score from open play in any of his first 15 games for the club.

Another disappointing cameo in Sunday’s 1-1 at Arsenal will have done little for his confidence, but he might have hoped to enjoy a morale boost by scoring in the Netherlands’ friendly clash with Belgium in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

But that hope was dashed after just 27 minutes.

The Dutchman started the clash, but he lasted less than half-an-hour following a collision with Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, resulting in his substitution.

And there are two pictures which more or less sum up Janssen’s woes at the moment.

At the moment, Janssen must feel like the universe is conspiring to humiliate him in its own cruel way, but it is worth remembering that he scored 30 times for the Eredivisie side last season, and how Tottenham fans will be hoping to see that player in the near future.
