England kicked off their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign (UEFA) with a narrow victory over Slovakia away from home on Sunday evening.
England got the better of 10-man Slovakia 1-0 in the Group F qualifier at Stadion Antona Malatinskeho in Trnava.
Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana’s goal in the fifth minute of injury time proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The performance of the Three Lions was far from impressive, especially in the first half, but one player who did well was Dele Alli.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder did not start the match, but the 20-year-old came on as a substitute in the 64th minute.
The former Milton Keynes Dons youngster gave England an extra edge and produced a lively display against Slovakia.
While Alli was getting ready to come on as a substitute, England head coach Sam Allardyce was seen to be giving him advice (see photo below).
Below are some of the best pictures from the match, including Liverpool attacking midfielder Lallana’s jubilation after scoring the winner in injury time.
