Unfortunately fate was against them as a collision with Kelechi Iheanacho saw Gabriel Paulista needing more than six minutes of treatment before leaving the field on a stretch.
The injury appeared to be a nasty one to say the least, with it now looking like he will miss that clash with the Reds and leaving Arsenal with a major defensive crisis just a week before the start of the new season.
