Tottenham drew 1-1 away at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners had dropped just two points in their previous eight games before heading into Sunday’s clash, and having come from 2-0 down to beat Ludogorets 3-2 in the Champions League in midweek, they entered the game in great form.
Conversely, Spurs had been struggling; the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen meant that Mauricio Pochettino’s men had failed to win in six games in all competitions, and they were desperate for a result at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal grabbed the lead when Kevin Wimmer turned the ball into his own net from Mesut Ozil’s free kick, but Tottenham grabbed a point as Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot after Laurent Koscielny fouled Mousa Dembele.
A point each was a fair result, though it means Tottenham now haven’t won in seven games, and have only scored one goal from open goal in that time, scoring three penalties.
Below are some of the best images from the game, with managers Pochettino and Arsene Wenger embracing at the final whistle, as well as showing how tempers flared between Theo Walcott and Tottenham duo Jan Vertonghen and Victor Wanyama.
Mousa Dembele and Granit Xhaka enjoyed a fine midfield battle, whilst photos also captured Harry Kane’s return from injury, including his goal and celebrations.
The photos also showed the dejection of Arsenal stars Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez, who may feel it was a case of two points dropped having been in front against their fierce rivals.
