Leeds United fans may have been focused on the club’s tour of Australia, with games against Manchester United and Western Sydney Wanderers in the books, but some players have been back home in England.

A handful of Leeds players have stayed behind to get up to speed ahead of the new season, and before the trip to Sardinia to take on Cagliari this coming weekend.

On Monday, Leeds were in action in a behind-closed-doors game as their Thorp Arch training, taking on Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

Unfortunately for Leeds, they were on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline, with Romarinho, Abdulrahman Al-Aboud, Aleksandar Prijovic and Luis Jimenez scoring.

It’s unclear who scored for Leeds as things stand, with limited information available, but fans will have been looking through photos from the match to see who was in action.

Al-Ittihad posted some photos from the game, and eagle-eyed fans will have seen Ezgjan Alioski in one photo, and new signings Helder Costa and Ben White in others.

Costa and White were left off the Australia trip in order to build up their fitness and learn the Leeds methods ahead of a gruelling season ahead under Marcelo Bielsa.

Alfie McCalmont was in action too, and whilst the game didn’t exactly go to plan in terms of the scoreline, Leeds will be delighted that new boys White and Costa got valuable minutes under their belts.
