Manchester United are preparing for their return to European action.
Manchester United’s players were snapped in training ahead of their Europa League match against Fenerbahce on Thursday evening, with one notable inclusion.
German international Bastian Schweinsteiger was the player to suffer most following Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford, immediately banished from first-team training.
However, the former Bayern Munich man made a surprise – and for many fans welcome – return on Monday, although he will not feature against the Turkish club as he has not been registered for United’s Europa League campaign.
United are currently second in Group A; level on points with Dutch club Feyenoord but with plenty of work still to be done in order to reach the knockout stages.
While Schweinsteiger’s appearance generated all the headlines, it should also be noted that Phil Jones is back in training at just the right time, with United suffering at the back with injuries to Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
Marcos Rojo has stepped up and proved some of his doubters wrong with two fine performances but United are only another injury away from a real problem at the back.
That could see 18-year-old Axel Tuanzebe called upon and the teenager was also in training this week as he continues to work towards his first-team debut.
