Tottenham Hotspur edged out Newcastle United at Wembley on Wednesday.
Tottenham Hotspur sealed a top-four finish in the Premier League last night by beating Newcastle United 1-0 at Wembley.
Harry Kane’s winner on 50 minutes proved enough to separate both sides and ensure that Tottenham will finish higher than any other London club in the Premier League this season.
There was little for Tottenham to celebrate at the break, but the sight of Ryan Mason, the former Spurs midfielder who was forced to retire in February at the age of 26, warmed the fans’ hearts during his half-time interview.
It was Kane’s 28th Premier League goal of the season, putting him within three of Liverpool’s Mo Salah who leads the way in the Golden Boot stakes with one game to go.
And as per usual, the 24-year-old looked over the moon to have found the net.
Mauricio Pochettino and Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez were complimentary toward one another in the pre-match press conferences prior to this one.
And it’s clear that there is a mutual respect and affection between the duo, going by the warm embrace they shared before and after the clash.
