Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a player in Gareth McAuley.

Rangers’ Gareth McAuley had an interesting night on Sunday.

The towering Rangers centre-back started Northern Ireland’s visit of Austria in a Nations League clash.

It was only the 38-year-old’s second game for any team this season, having recently returned from injury for the Gers.

And McAuley, to be fair, didn’t look bothered against the visitors’ raft of attacking quality – including Marko Arnautovic and David Alaba.

He had an excellent game for the most part, but that isn’t what Northern Irish and neutral fans were talking about after the match.

At one point, McAuley was embroiled in something of a scuffle with West Ham United’s £25 million [RTE Sport] striker Arnauatovic, who found himself in a headlock by the big Rangers defender.

Here are some photos of the incident:

It was an odd incident and it remains to be seen what riled the former West Brom star, who arrived at Ibrox on a free transfer during the summer.

Nevertheless, Rangers certainly seem as if they have a very talented defender in McAuley and it’ll be interesting to see if he brings that same aggression into Saturday’s visit of Livingston.
