The 29-year-old was the star attraction during training and could make his Premier League comeback this weekend.
Newcastle United know they have to raise their game considerably if they are to win their first Premier League game of the season this weekend. The winless Magpies host Hull City at St James’ Park and have to improve immeasurably from the performance that saw them lose 4-0 at Southampton last weekend.
But there could be hope for Alan Pardew’s men in that star striker Papiss Cisse could feature for Newcastle against the Tigers. The Senegalese striker has been out injured for a lengthy period but is now back in training, with reports suggesting he will play at the weekend.
Last season, though, Cisse only scored two goals and registered two assists. Any boost, however, will be welcome considering Newcastle’s woes in front of goal so far this season. The Magpies have scored just three goals in four Premier League games – which all came in the 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace.
Despite signing several new forwards – Emmanuel Riviere, Ayoze Perez, Facundo Ferreyra and more – this summer, then, it is an old face the Magpies will be relying on to hit the back of the net against Hull. No pressure Papiss, no pressure.
