Nottingham Forest and Burton Albion went head-to-head in the Championship yesterday – with a stunning fixture played out at the City Ground between the local rivals.
It was Philippe Montanier’s first game as manager of Forest and in the opposite dugout was former Forest player Nigel Clough – who is also the son of Forest legend Brian Clough.

The game ended 4-3, with Burton Albion putting on a great fight in their first game in the second tier.
Forest fans will be pleased with the win however, especially with Britt Assombalonga bagging two goals. He has worked hard on recovering fully from his knee trouble and his goals would have settled him into the new campaign.

Oliver Burke will also be pleased as he scored in the fixture. Montanier played plenty of youngsters – including midfielder Matty Cash.
He impressed throughout pre-season and recently signed a new deal with the club. He put in an assured display.

Forest also saw a new signing in Thomas Lam hit the back of the net with a rasping drive. The Finn is at the City Ground to strengthen the defence, but goals like this would be an added threat.

Burton tried to steal the show with the result and came desperately close but in the end, just Hamza Choudhury’s hairdo took the headlines.
