Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw with Everton away from home on Saturday afternoon.
The North London club were expected by many to pick up all three points from the Premier League game at Goodison Park.
However, Spurs failed to play well and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with the Merseyside outfit.
Everton took the lead at Goodison Park after just five minutes when Ross Barkley scored from a free kick.
Tottenham restored parity just before the hour mark through Argentina international attacker Erik Lamela.
Although Spurs’ overall performance was less than impressive, there was no lack of effort from the players.
As the photos of defender Danny Rose (above) and midfielder Dele Alli (below) show, the players did give their all, but it just was not enough.

A point at Everton is not exactly a bad result, but it is clear that Tottenham need to improve if they want to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
As for the Toffees, Ronald Koeman’s side played well in the first half and deserved the point.
Below are some of the best photos from the match at Goodison Park between Everton and Tottenham.
