Ivorian midfielder Cheick Tiote and French striker Emmanuel Riviere were both in action.

The former has been linked with moves to both Burnley and Olympiakos this week whilst La Liga side Osasuna are said to be keen on the striker.

Neither player has featured for the club at all this season under Rafa Benitez.

Two players whose long-term futures are at Newcastle were also involved in the session.

Adam Armstrong and Jamie Sterry signed new deals with the club this week and both will be hoping for some more game time this weekend.

Massadio Haidara was also in action. The French left-back has been out of action since last October but is picking up his return to action as he looks to make his comeback from injury.

Newcastle boss Benitez will be hoping his week of drills have been enough to prepare his team for a tough challenge v high-flying Brighton.
