Newcastle United’s Massadio Haidara trained ahead of the visit of Palace.
Newcastle United were put through their paces ahead of Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace – and one forgotten man was in attendance.
Massadio Haidara has not played a minute of football for Newcastle this season due to a knee injury.
His return gives manager Rafael Benitez – who, according to The Sun, told Haidara to find a new club this past summer – another option at left-back.
The 24-year-old wound up rejecting a move to Saint Etienne but Paul Dummett’s absence means that the left-back role is up for grabs in the short term.
Javier Manquillo has started Newcastle’s last two games there, but Jesus Gamez and Chancel Mbemba have also been given chances in that position.
The fact he is training with the first team is surely a good sign, with Benitez seemingly willing to consider him on Saturday.
Despite trying to sell him in the summer, the Spanish manager could easily let Haidara train with the reserves if he had absolutely no shot of being in contention for Premier League squads.
