West Ham United suffered a 3-2 defeat in a topsy-turvy encounter against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, with Joshua King bagging a hat-trick.

The Hammers lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea last Monday, and were looking for a response against a struggling Cherries side who had failed to win in 2017.

When Joshua King missed an early penalty and Michail Antonio went down the other end to score for the Hammers, it looked like Slaven Bilic’s men were on the road to victory on the South Coast.

Bournemouth then squandered another penalty as Benik Afobe’s effort was saved by Darren Randolph, but King struck before half time to bring Eddie Howe’s men level at 1-1.

King fired Bournemouth in front shortly after the break only for Andre Ayew to equalise for West Ham, and Norway international King then capped off an end-to-end game with his hat-trick and the winning goal.

It’s now just two points in the last four games for West Ham, whose form has tailed off again since beating Southampton 3-1 in February, and images from the game summed up the feeling at the London Stadium right now.

Mark Noble showed his anguish during the game as West Ham let a close game slip through their fingers, whilst Andy Carroll cut a disconsolate figure at full time, walking off dejected after King 90th minute winner.

West Ham won’t want this winless run to continue having seemingly turned things around in recent months, and next weekend’s home game with Leicester City will be seen as the ideal game to try and get back to winning ways at the London Stadium.
