It may be the international break but those Liverpool players left behind have headed to a warmer climate.
The international break may be upon us but that does not mean all Liverpool’s players are away with their respective nations.
The likes of Joel Matip, Lucas Leiva, James Milner and Dejan Lovren have all travelled to Tenerife for the Reds’ latest warm weather training camp, along with a host of teenage talent that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be able to see up close over the next few days.
Among the Liverpool players involved are 18-year-old striker Toni Gomes, 18-year-old winger Yan Dhanda and 17-year-old left-back Adam Lewis.
All three, along with plenty of others, will be hoping to stake a claim for a first-team spot next season or beyond with an impressive showing while some of the club’s big guns are away, and Klopp could use the trip to judge which of Liverpool’s next generation have the potential to step up and which will be cast aside in the summer.
Whatever happens, the trip will be useful for those involved, enabling them to train and bond in far sunnier climes.
