Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was always going to need time to stamp his authority on this squad and the early signs this season suggest they are going to challenge for silverware and fight tooth and nail for a place in the top four at the very least.
Brazilian midfielder Emre Can was back in training after missing the last two league matches with ligament problems and he could feature against the Blues albeit most likely from the bench.
