While the international break appeared to come at a good time for Derby County, it was perhaps an inconvenience for Leeds United given their form in recent weeks.

Garry Monk’s men are currently in the top-half of the Championship table while the Rams will be looking to get their season properly off and running after a disappointing start when they meet this weekend at the iPro Stadium.

But while Leeds carry the momentum based on recent results, who holds the momentum based on their previous meetings?

Here is a look at their last five clashes along with some of the most memorable images from each game.

December 2015: Leeds United 2-2 Derby County

Promotion-chasing Derby travelled to Elland Road looking to end the calendar year on a positive note. And it appeared that they would do just that when Jeff Hendrick gave them the lead after 13 minutes. The Rams would dominate much of the first-half but Leeds managed to go into the break level as captain Sol Bamba equalised.

And it was the home side that would take the lead when Sam Byram’s cross was headed home by Chris Wood. Derby would ensure the points were shared however, as Tom Ince made it 2-2 two minutes after coming on.

Leeds’ first-half display at the iPro was arguably their best during Uwe Rosler’s tenure. And they were rewarded when Tom Adeyemi’s header gave them a lead at the break. Derby looked a different side after the interval however, and Chris Martin’s great finish meant that United were in front for just a handful of minutes. It was the home side that spent much of the second-half on top but they were punished for failing to take their chances with a moment of brilliance in the 88th minute. Chris Wood received the ball with his back to goal just outside the box, but his first touch created an opening and he viciously whipped the ball into the back of the net.

Leeds may shade the head-to-head record over their last five games, but there has perhaps been no performance as dominant as the Derby display that led to a 2-0 win in 2014. An Alex Mowatt own goal and Jake Buxton’s header handed Steve McClaren’s men the three points and sent them to third in the table. Leeds were left just one point above the bottom three following the defeat.

Adryan appeared to be a player who was capable of being the spark that would inspire Leeds to promotion when he initially arrived at Elland Road on loan. Sadly for the Brazilian however, his most memorable contribution was a ridiculous dive which came in this game. Leeds won the game thanks to a Mirco Antenucci brace, but the Italian’s influence on the contest was completely overshadowed.

The two sides played out a draw on the final day of the 2013/14 season. Derby were already guaranteed third place and a spot in the play-offs, while the Whites had had several weeks to come to terms with mid-table mediocrity. Matt Smith had cancelled out Simon Dawkins’ opener in what proved to be Brian McDermott’s final game in charge of the Peacocks. Given the events of the previous months, his departure seemed as inevitable as Leeds’ chances of finishing 15th going into the final day.
