Celtic and Leeds United had representation in the most dramatic game of the Nations League so far.
Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson and Celtic defender Mikael Lustig were both participants in arguably the most dramatic game of the international break.
Sweden raced into a two-goal lead at home to Turkey as goals from Isaac Kiese Thelin and Viktor Claesson put the hosts comfortably ahead by 50 minutes.
Hakan Calhanoglu threw the visitors a lifeline by halving the deficit, before Emre Akbaba levelled up for Turkey on 88 minutes – 10 minutes after the Celtic right-back went off injured.
But the drama wasn’t finished there, with Akbaba beating the Leeds defender to a header to snatch a last-minute winner and stun the Swedes.
It remains to be seen whether the Celtic star – who earns £24,000 per week at Parkhead [The Daily Star] – is seriously injured or not, but the good news is that he was able to walk off the pitch unassisted.
The Hoops visit St Mirren on Friday, while Jansson, a £3.5 million signing in the summer of 2017 [Yorkshire Evening Post], will hope to put this disappointment behind him when top-of-the-table Leeds visit Millwall on Saturday.
