Liverpool’s training session was open to the cameras earlier today.
Serbian winger Lazar Markovic played a prominent role in training for Liverpool today, as he works towards a first start for the Reds.
Markovic missed much of the opening to the season through injury, coming on as a substitute against Tottenham almost a fortnight ago.
The £20 million signing from Benfica is raring to go and has an increased chance of selection with Brendan Rodgers forced to shuffle his pack due to Daniel Sturridge’s injury sustained with England.
He is not the only one hoping to profit from the striker’s misfortune, as fellow new-boy Adam Lallana has returned to first team training for the first time since the season began after suffering an injury during pre-season, where he was not even able to play a single match.
Lallana will surely be involved in one way or another in the home fixture with Aston Villa on Saturday, but the role of Fabio Borini is less certain.
The club attempted to move the Italian striker on during the transfer window with Sunderland and QPR attempting to do a deal, but Borini decided against a move, preferring to tough it out and wait for his chance at Liverpool.
He remains actively involved in first team training, and with a Capital One Cup game later this month his chance may come.
If he did impress manager Brendan Rodgers in training, there remains a chance he may land a spot on the bench against Villa, and hope to go from there.
